My name is Jennifer Heywood and I'm the owner and creator of Jhey Photo, a Lincoln, NE based photography company.

I know it's a big decision choosing your photographer, so thank you for taking the time to learn a bit about me! Below you will find answers to many of your questions!

I fell in love with photography in a film class my junior year of high school. Since then, I’ve been known as the girl behind the camera—and honestly, it doesn’t get much better than that.

I love being invited into the most meaningful moments of people’s lives: getting engaged and married, growing families, celebrating milestones, launching businesses, and everything in between. While those big moments are incredible, it’s the small, in-between moments that truly inspire me—the quiet glances, the happy tears, the unscripted joy.

I don’t consider myself just a photographer. Yes, I’ll capture the images you need, but I’m also there to support you however I can. I’ve been known to step in and help where needed—fixing wardrobe mishaps, calming nerves, grabbing snacks or water, helping wrangle kids, or simply making you feel comfortable and confident in front of the camera. Whatever the session or milestone, my goal is always the same: for you to feel taken care of and for the experience to be as seamless and enjoyable as possible.

I love all things nerdy. I've watched everything Star Wars and Marvel related and enjoy constructing legos for fun.

Cat Mom

I'm the proud mom to Joey & Jasmine and though they act like 2 year olds when it comes to photos, they are my little babies.

How do you describe your style?

I like to keep it fun and authentic. I won't over edit; I like to capture people looking their best without the aid of photoshop. I love candid moments and want people to feel comfortable. I believe the best photos are the ones where you feel natural and are with the people you love. I want you to look at your photos a decade from now and remember how you felt on your wedding day, during your engagement, or during the first days of your child's life.

What comes as part of your packages?

I will go through all images and pick the best ones, and then edit them to my style and a finished look. (This means I get rid of bad images, duplicates, and give you all the best moments from the day.) You get to download your images for free! No hidden fees or extra charges. You will receive a personalized, online gallery that you will be able to send to as many friends and family members as you would like. From this gallery, you and your loved ones can download high-resolution images as well as print images if desired. You also have free printing rights! Your photos are yours, period. Each package includes free printing rights at no additional cost to you or your friends.

Do you travel?

I love Lincoln, Nebraska, but it's nice to photograph in places other than the good life every once in a while. If it's less than a 5 hour drive, I just ask for 70 cents for every mile outside of Lincoln! For longer distances, I ask for other travel expenses such as hotel stays or flights. So far, I've done photoshoots in a few states (Nebraska, Hawaii, Iowa, South Dakota, Colorado, Oregon, Utah, New Mexico, Kansas, Missouri, and New York) but I would love to add to my list!

Can I bring my dog, cat, fish, etc.?

Yes, I love animals! I love my cats, Joey & Jasmine, more than anything. They are always welcome to join us, but I would suggest bringing someone to help with your pet! Treats and toys are a good call as well to get attention and reward good behavior.

What should I wear?
Wear what makes you confident, comfortable, and that captures your own style. For some inspiration, check out my clothing guide or my blog. The colors and styles matter less than how you feel in them! Props can also help you feel more at ease in front of the camera and add personality to your session. Do you offer gift cards?
At this time, I do not offer gift cards. All photography sessions are booked directly online, and I work with limited availability to ensure the best experience for each client. If you would like to purchase a session as a gift, you’re welcome to book the session on behalf of the recipient. When booking, please include both your email and the recipient’s email in the notes. I will send the invoice to you and deliver the final gallery directly to the recipient.
Where should we take photos?
I recommend choosing location(s) that mean something to you! Otherwise, I would pick locations that match the vibe you’d like to portray. It can be anything from a gravel road, to a sunflower field, to an alleyway. For some inspiration, check out my location guide or my blog.
How much do we have to put down to book you?
I ask for 25% down to reserve the date for weddings. Other photoshoots require an online deposit that is specific for each booking. These deposits are non-refundable and transferable.
How many photos will we get?
Every photoshoot is different. I aim for quality over quantity, but there will be more than enough photos for you to choose from. If there are specific photos you would like, please show me examples so I can make sure to get what you would like.

What is your turnaround time?
I aim to deliver small sessions in two to three weeks and weddings in two months.
