FAQ
What is a mini sessions? How is a mini session different from a full session?
A mini session is a short, focused photography session, lasting 15 minutes. It is designed as a scaled-down version of a full photography session, offered for specific time slots with multiple bookings. Mini sessions are shorter in duration, come with fewer photos, and are priced lower than full sessions. They are offered at specific times of the year, with a predetermined location. Full sessions offer more flexibility in terms of location, theme, and time, and result in more photos.
What’s included in a mini session package?
Each mini session package includes around 15-25 lightly edited digital images. Additional edits or prints may be available for purchase after the session.
How do I book a mini session?
Booking a mini session is simple, you just have to be quick! Join my mailing list above. When I send out a mini session email, go ahead and book online. Click the in-email link, select an available time slot for the date of the mini session, and complete the deposit payment ($20). The remainder of the amount is due the day of the mini session.
Can I choose the location for a mini session?
No, mini sessions are conducted at a predetermined location so I am able to capture a lot of families back to back. The set location helps me maintain a quick and efficient workflow so I can offer the session at a lower price. I do offer different locations throughout the year though!
What should we wear for the mini session?
I recommend wearing outfits that you feel confident and comfortable in. Neutrals and soft colors generally work well, but feel free to express your personality through your attire!
Are mini sessions suitable for children or pets?
Absolutely! Mini sessions are great for kids and pets because they are quick and fun. However, if your child or pet needs extra time to warm up to the camera, consider booking a longer session.
What if I need to cancel or reschedule?
If you need to cancel or reschedule your mini session, please notify me as soon as you know. Please note that rescheduling options may be limited due to the popularity of mini sessions, and you will not receive your deposit back. If you need to reschedule, you will have to pay a new deposit. If the session is postponed due to rain, that will be done with no extra cost to you.
Can we bring props or special items?
Yes! If you'd like to include a meaningful prop or item in your photos (such as a blanket, balloons, or a special toy), I'll make sure to incorporate it into the session if time allows.
When will we receive our photos?
You can expect to receive your edited images within two weeks after your session. I’ll provide them via an online gallery where you can download your favorites and order prints if desired.
What happens if the weather is bad on the day of the session?
For outdoor sessions, I’ll monitor the weather closely. If the forecast looks bad, I’ll reach out to reschedule for another date or move the session to an indoor location, depending on the circumstances.
Can we request specific poses or shots?
Of course! While mini sessions are brief, I’m happy to accommodate specific pose requests as long as time permits. We’ll also provide our own direction to make sure you look your best and capture beautiful, natural moments.
Why does it cost $100 for 15 minutes?
As a photographer, I have to pay for a lot of equipment and systems in order to make my mini session function. I pay for the email services that send out the mini session emails, the booking service online, my website that you book through, the fees on the credit cards people use to pay their deposit, my editing and culling software programs, my camera body and lenses and so much more. Not to mention the time that it takes for me to scout the location, set up the bookings, communicate with clients, prepare for the session, drive to and from the session, upload the images, edit the photos, create a personalized gallery and send the gallery off. For every session that you pay for, usually a third goes to taxes, a third goes to expenses and the last third I get. For every hour I am shooting, I am working behind the scenes for four hours so for a 15 minute session, I am working a full hour at least.
